Our story
Welcome among 26,000 trees, where each one has a name and our door is always open.
Welcome to Cro Cherry.
since 2010
The products we make are the fruit of our land’s generosity and human talent.
The family and the plantation
Cro Cherry is an orchard in Ninski Stanovi, five kilometres from the sea, owned by the Kardum family. On forty hectares grow 26,000 trees of twenty varieties, making it the largest and most modern cherry plantation in Croatia and one of the largest in this part of Europe.
The company’s ambition is to carry the knowledge gathered here over generations into the future.
Alongside founder Branimir Kardum, the rest of the family is actively involved in the business, and from day one the range and production processes have been developed together with the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology and the Faculty of Agriculture. The entrepreneurial vision behind the project is summed up in one simple statement: quality grows from care.
How we grew
Everything we sell is made on the plantation or around it.

The first orchard near Nin
The Kardum family plants the first trees on a plain five kilometres from the sea.

Sorting line and hydrocooler
The orchard gets its own sorting line and hydrocooler. The fruit is cooled within hours of picking, so freshness no longer depends on how far it travels.

La Cherry premium line
Cherries that don’t go to the fresh market become La Cherry, a premium line of cherry products made to traditional recipes.

Kardum Winery and olive oil
A passion for wine grows into our own winery. Carefully selected grapes from Dalmatian growers become award-winning wines, and the olive trees that shelter the orchard from the bura give us our olive oil.

Agritourism
A complete ecosystem grows around the orchard: trails and an aromatic garden, a tasting room, the Cherry bar and restaurant, the Kardum winery, olive oil and cherry cosmetics.
What we believe in
Our range is the result of dedication to growing and care for the environment. We achieve flawless quality by investing in technology, but our greatest value remains the skilled, committed team behind every piece of fruit we pick.
We want this region to be a place worth investing in – and fruit growing in the Zadar region to grow together with us.
Defying the bura
and the storms
Nature gives the flavour, technology preserves it.
No return to farming in this region is guaranteed, and every year is uncertain.
That’s why we built the orchard from the start to withstand whatever the sky brings.
-
Hail protection
Nets over every row. One hour of storm doesn’t take away a year.
-
Frost defence
A system that protects the blossom on nights when the temperature drops.
-
Hydrocooler
Stops the fruit from ageing within the first hours after picking.
-
MAP technology
A storage method we developed ourselves.
A plantation in Croatia’s
first royal capital
Our plantation has found its place among the flavours of the Zadar region
Next to the salt pans and fields of Nin, the town of Croatian kings, our cherry has found its place among the flavours of the Zadar region. Every spring forty hectares burst into bloom and stop everyone who passes by.
Twenty varieties,
one season
Every variety has its moment, its flavour and its name
We chose varieties that ripen one after another. The first cherries arrive in mid-May, the last at the end of June, and each is picked when it’s at its best, not a day earlier.
That’s why our season lasts not a week, but more than a month.
